Our program includes 18 hours of online class room tutoring along with 6 practice tests. Students and tutors meet online at the scheduled time once a week. All sessions are 3 hours long. Tutors review different topics in each class and also give practice tests. Practice tests are taken by students at their own time prior to their next scheduled class. We highly recommended that students complete the practice tests in one sitting in order to develop test taking endurance and get the most benefit. Tests scores are also made available to both the student and the tutor in order to monitor performance over the course of the program.
While most of the tutoring institutions charge anywhere from $500 to $1000 for SAT tutoring packages (with many national brands at $1500) TutorHigh charges only $225 for live online tutoring. We are able to make tutoring effective and affordable as we use the power of the internet along with technological advances that enable connecting tutors and students for distant learning. We do not have large advertising budget nor do we have large overhead as all our tutoring is done online.
In order to make our tutoring effective our class sizes are limited to a maximum of 4 students. Instead of defining class size by average number of students we define by maximum number of students to a tutor. Most test preparation centers have an average class size of 10-25 students per tutor.
TutorHigh tutors are all highly qualified professionals. All tutors are college graduates possessing either Master’s or Bachelor’s degrees in the subject they teach with some also possessing Bachelors degree in Education. For safety, all of our tutors go through a thorough screening and background check. All of our tutors go through an extensive training program to deliver an effective online tutoring experience.
We have several scheduling choices (days & time) available to meet most requirements. Each group has only one tutoring session (3 hours long) a week. Sessions are divided in subject group of Math and English (Critical Reading & Writing).
Six full online practice tests are included in the package. The essay section of the tests should be written and e-mailed to the tutor for evaluation. Practice tests are also included in the individual one-on-one tutoring plan.
Essay writing is discussed by the tutors during the sessions and is also included as a part of the practice tests. Students do an online submission of their completed essay for review and assessment by the tutor.
Our test preparation program is 6 weeks long with one session (3 hours long) per week. Practice tests are done by the students at the time of their convenience during the week.
As all our sessions follow a set curriculum we recommend that students do not miss any sessions. Over a typical 18 hour course, tutors review many topics and work with multiple practice tests equivalent to those administered in two full SAT tests. If a student misses a session, he or she will mainly miss the topic reviews but will most likely get another chance to work with a similar practice section in another session. Once you start the program, it must be completed in 6 weeks.
We recommend that students do not cancel any sessions. Since tutor’s time is booked in advance for a given set of students of a class room we are unable to issue any refund for canceled sessions. If a session is canceled by TutorHigh due to any reason a refund for the canceled session will be issued.
We are confident of improvement in SAT score if a student participates in all sessions and completes all the online practice tests that are assigned. Most responsible companies will not guarantee a certain score increase. Ultimately the results depend on the efforts of the individual taking the test. Even after participating in all the classes and completing all the practice work that is given and score does not improve we will let the student take online practice tests again at no charge.
